Frequently Asked Questions
How young can we start speech therapy?
There is no minimum age to start. If you have concerns, we would be happy to do an evaluation to discuss potential need for therapy.
What does speech therapy look like?
Sessions are 1:1 with a licensed SLP. For young children, therapy may look a lot like play! The play is very intentional, and the SLPs set up specific situations to help your child reach their goals.
How long are sessions?
30 minutes total. Twenty-five minutes in the therapy room and the last few minutes are spent talking to families regarding the session and activities they can do at home.
Should we just wait and see if my kid starts talking?
Early intervention is very important, and we do not take a wait and see approach. While some kids may catch up naturally, it is hard to predict who will not. We prefer to assist with communication to reduce frustration and prevent future communication difficulties.
Do AAC devices inhibit verbal communication?
No! It is actually proven to improve verbal communication and reduce frustration.
Does CTS provide food for feeding therapy?
Due to the individualization of feeding therapy, we ask families to bring their own food each session. The therapist will guide you on what to bring.
